Calvary Chapel Seaside: Christian Church

Our Story

Calvary Chapel Seaside was founded by Pastor Kurt Schonheinz (Ret) as a church plant of Calvary Chapel Pacific Hills in 2005. We have a heart for the people of Laguna Beach; in particular the residents of the Vista Aliso retirement community adjacent to Lang Park.

We hold to the Calvary Chapel Distinctives and we “Simply Teach the Word–Simply.”

Our Team

Senior Pastor Thomas Marquez

Pastor Thomas grew up in Los Angeles, California and served as a counselor with Teen Challenge of Orange County until his retirement in April 2020. He lead a ministry to the homeless and motel population in Anaheim California and has been with Calvary Chapel Seaside since 2008.

Associate Pastor Mark Kudra

Pastor Mark is a native of Orange County and grew up on the California Coast. He became a Christian in 1996 and studied under Chuck Smith. He led a motorcycle ministry called Christ’s Motorcycle Disciples, a single’s ministry at Calvary Chapel Burbank and graduated from Biola University. Pastor Mark has attended Calvary Chapel Seaside since 2013.
